NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Spring Hill College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference decision to the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Knights by a score of 86-74 on Saturday afternoon at The Castle.

SUNO (1-0) led 42-32 at the intermission and built as much as a 15 point cushion in the second half.

Spring Hill was paced by senior Robert Gipson from Mobile's W.P. Davidson High School with 18 points and senior Alex Looney out of Mobile's Murphy High School with 16 points. Red shirt freshman Dejan Stefanovic scored his first career double-double in his second career game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Frederick Gatson also poured in 12 points for the Badger cause.

Russell Hill scored 22 points to lead four Knights who reached the double-digit scoring threshold.

As a team, SHC shot 46.6% (27-58) from the floor including 46.7% (7-15) from 3-point distance. Turnovers haunted Spring Hill who had 20 fumbles against 12 SUNO steals while forcing SUNO into 16 turnovers off eight Badger steals.

SUNO hit 51% (26-51) of their shots with an even 50% (10-20) effort from 3-point territory.

The Badgers (0-2) next open Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) play with a game in Central, S.C., versus the Southern Wesleyan University Warriors (1-1) on Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m.
