The Spring Hill College volleyball team extended its current winning streak to 23 matches with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-12) conference victory over the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons on Saturday morning at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. In the process, they also handed head coach Dr. Peggy Martin her 1,200th career win as she joins Navy's Larry Bock as the only two collegiate coaches to pass the 1,200 career wins mark.
SHC was paced by junior Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., with 16 kills and senior Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., with 47 assists. Senior Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile had 13 kills while senior Meredith Donald also from Mobile collected 15 digs and 14 receptions.
Spring Hill hit .449 (56-12-98) as a team with two blocks, seven aces and 48 digs while holding the Lady Barons (3-21, 0-14 SSAC) to a .128 (22-11-86) average with three blocks, two aces and 27 digs.
Martin now holds a career record of 1200-315-8 (.791) in 38 seasons including a 136-34 (.800) mark in five seasons at Spring Hill.
Spring Hill (31-3, 14-0 SSAC) has now wrapped up its third consecutive undefeated conference regular season and will next travel to Montgomery to compete in the 2013 SSAC Championship Tournament as the No. 1 seed beginning this Thursday at 10 a.m. versus Faulkner University (15-14, 6-8 SSAC).
