PULASKI, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College women's soccer team saw the 2013 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 loss at 17th-ranked Martin Methodist College in the opening round of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship Tournament.
The RedHawks (14-4-1) and the Badgers were knotted in a scoreless tie at the halftime intermission, but Martin Methodist scored a goal in the 67th minute when Jennifer Loewen accepted an assist by Fabiola Sanchez to find the net from 10 yards out in front of the goal.
MMC salted away the game six minutes later when Aisling Kerr added an insurance tally from 12 yards out.
Badger junior goalkeeper Abby Massengale of New Orleans, La., made six saves against 28 MMC shots.
SHC took one corner kick in the game while MMC attempted seven kicks from the angles.
The Badgers finished the year with a 10-8-1 overall record including a 5-5-1 mark in the SSAC matching the 2007 and 2008 SHC squads for most victories in a season.
