MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The top-seeded Spring Hill College volleyball team took a 3-0 (25-16; 25-17; 25-12) victory over the 2nd seeded University of Mobile Lady Rams in the Championship match of 2013 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tournament at the Multiplex Building at the Cramton Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

After three previous trips to the SSAC championship game came up short with three consecutive losses to former SSAC member Lee University, the Badgers finally sealed the deal with a straight set victory against their crosstown rivals.

SHC took a 17-12 lead over Mobile (24-13) in the 1st set and closed with a 25-16 win.

The Badgers kept up the pressure in the 2nd set building a 20-10 cushion as they coasted to a 25-17 victory.

In the 3rd set, SHC wasted little time in building an early 8-0 lead and looked determined to finish off their season's goal. SHC put the Rams into a 12-3 deficit as the Badgers were hitting on all cylinders and ended the match with a 25-12 score in the final set.

Megan Haber led the Badgers with 12 kills and Sha Sha Buchanan knocked down 11 more kills for the winning side. Taryn Nash handed out 31 assists and served up three aces while Meredith Donald scooped up 14 digs with nine receptions.

As a team, SHC built a .427 (38-3-82) attack percentage and blocked 10 shots with four aces and 37 total digs. Mobile was limited to a .040 (32-28-99) attack percentage with no aces, one block and 38 digs.

After the match, Haber was named Tournament MVP while Nash and Donald were named to the SSAC All-Tournament team.

Spring Hill (35-3) expanded its current winning streak to 27 matches with the decision and will now wait to see who they play in the Opening Round of the 2013 NAIA National Championship Tournament on Saturday, November 23, at a site to be determined.
