FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College men's basketball team dropped a 78-64 conference decision to the 20th-ranked Emmanuel College Lions on Saturday evening at Williamson Basketball Arena.

The Lions (7-0, 2-0 SSAC East) took an early lead, but the Badgers regrouped to take a 20-19 at the 7:24 mark and grew that lead to as much as 33-26 with 3:12 remaining in the 1st half. Emmanuel, however, rallied to tie the game at 35-35 before the intermission.

EC began the 2nd half hot and grabbed an early 42-38 cushion before sophomore guard Jarrett Calhoun of Spring Hill knocked down a 3-pointer to make it a 42-41 contest.

The game proved to be a back-and forth affair early in the 2nd half with Emmanuel holding a 50-47 lead at the 10 minute mark before building a 12-point 60-48 bulge with 7:28 showing on the clock. From there the Lions took control and built a 19-point margin of 72-53 at 3:52 on their way to a 78-64 final victory.

Spring Hill was led by Calhoun and sophomore guard Wesley Pietri with 13 points each while Ty McCants added 12 points Robert Drummond had 11 points.

Southern Wesleyan's Luke Miller poured in 22 points and Patrick McCrary added 14 points for the Warriors who shot 41.5% (27-67) from the field including 26.3% (5-19) in 3-point attempts.

The Badgers shot 36.2% (17-47) from the floor including 41.7% (5-12) for behind the arc.

The Lions out-rebounded the Badgers 41-29 under the boards as Spring Hill collected just three offensive boards. Spring Hill committed 19 turnovers against 11 Lion steals while EC turned the ball over 16 times versus six SHC steals.

The Badgers (0-4, 0-2 SSAC West) return home on Saturday for a conference match versus the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners (5-1, 1-0 SSAC East) at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center beginning at 5 p.m.
