MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team dropped a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) decision to the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners by a 64-54 score on Saturday after at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Mariners (8-0, 4-0 SSAC East) trailed the Badgers by as much as 13 points early in the 2nd half before rallying for the win.
LaSheena Nation led the badgers with eight points while Camry Johnson had six rebounds. As a team, SHC shot 31.3% (20-64) from the field including a 26.1% (6-23) effort from 3-point distance. The Badgers out-rebounded the Mariners 44-40, but turnovers were once again their downfall as they racked up 20 turnovers against 10 Mariner steals
CCG shot 30.9% (21-68) from the floor and 25% (4-16) from 3-point land while turning the ball over 16 times against just two steals by the Badgers.
At the free throw line CCG knocked down 72% (18-25) of their attempts while SHC managed just 57.1% (8-14).
The Badgers (1-5, 1-3 SSAC West) will next play at non-conference foe Dillard University (0-2) in New Orleans, La., on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
