NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team fought off a determined rally by the Lady Bleu Devils to earn a 57-52 non-conference road victory over Dillard University  at Dent Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

In the game's early stages, it was a contest of Spring Hill's inside game off penetration by their guards versus the outside and midrange game of the Lady Bleu Devils (0-3) that resulted in q 9-4 SHC lead five minutes into the affair. A four-minute scoring drought by both teams was followed by four quick points by Dillard to draw the Lady Bleu Devils to within 9-8 at the 9 minute mark.

Over the next five minutes, Spring Hill's outside shooting warmed up and the Badgers built a 20-13 advantage and looked to hold the momentum. The lead grew to as much as 27-14, but Dillard rolled off the final six points of the half to make it a 27-20 SHC lead at the break.

Dillard tied the game at 31 with a fast break layup at 15:26 as the momentum shifted to the home team early in the second half. A second fast break layup at 13:40 gave the Lady Bleu Devils their first lead of the contest at 35-34 as Dillard's defense and rebounding began to take its toll on the Badgers.

The game was a back-and-forth affair for the next 10 minutes and found SHC leading 53-47 with 4 minutes to play, but with 17.6 seconds left a Dillard steal at half court and layup made it just a 54-52 Badger lead. Senior guard Bria Bohanon would then convert on both free throws at the other end to extend it to 56-52 with 12.8 seconds to play and then ice the game by stealing the inbounds pass.

Armanee' Broussard paced SHC with 15 points while Bohanon added 12 points. Dillard's Alena Evans had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the home team

As a team, SHC shot 44% (22-50) from the field including a 35.7% (6-23) effort from 3-point distance. The Badgers out-rebounded the Lady Bleu Devils 42-39, but turnovers were once again hurt SHC they racked up 25 turnovers against 15 Dillard steals.

Dillard shot 30.2% (19-63) from the floor and just 13.3% (2-15) from 3-point land while turning the ball over 23 times against 16 steals by the Badgers.

The Badgers (2-5) will next play an exhibition contest at NCAA Division 1 opponent University of South Alabama (0-3) on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in the USA Mitchell Center.
