BATON ROUGE, La. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball team accepted a 91-60 exhibition game loss at NCAA Division 1 member Southern University at the F.G. Clark Center on Saturday morning.
The Jaguars (3-3) held a 45-34 lead at the halftime intermission and built as much as a 38-point lead with 8:18 left in the game.
Junior guard Elissa VandeWaa led Spring Hill with 12 points while sophomore guard Armanee' Broussard added 11 points. SHC shot 29.8% 14-47) from the floor and 33.3% (6-18) from long distance while suffering 19 turnovers in the face of nine steals by Southern.
The Jaguars shot a blistering 52.9% (36-68) overall including 31.3% (5-16) in 3-point attempts. Southern turned the ball over 18 times as SHC took away 11 steals, but the Jags out-rebounded the Badgers 47 to 34 under the baskets.
The Badgers (3-5) will next travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday at face future SIAC rival Stillman College (2-6) at 3 p.m.
