The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named basketball players Alex Looney and Natalie Harper as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their efforts on the hardwoods during the weeks of December 16-January 5, 2013.
Looney, a senior forward from Murphy High School in Mobile, scored 12 points at NCAA Division 1 member Southeastern Louisiana University on Monday, December 30, 2013. For the year, he is averaging 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43.5% (40-92) from the field with 10 assists and 11 steals.
Harper, a sophomore guard from Greensboro, N.C., scored 22 points in the Badgers' upset of Lindsey Wilson College on Friday, December 20, 2013. Harper knocked down 5-of-11 (45.5%) 3-point attempts and was 5-for-5 in her free throw shooting in the game. She is averaging 6.9 points per game with eight assists and four steals on the year.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
