The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named basketball players Frederick Gatson and Amee Smith as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their achievements on the court during the weeks of January 27-February 2, 2014.
Gatson, a junior forward from Riverdale, Ga., scored 32 points with 20 rebounds in two games this week. For the season, he is shooting 51.1% (95-186) overall and 30.3% (10-33) from 3-point distance while scoring 11.1 points with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Smith, a freshman guard from Longview, Texas, scored 21 points with five assists and two steals in two SSAC games this week. She is scoring 5.8 points per game while shooting 31.2% (39-125) from the floor this season.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
