The Spring Hill College women's basketball team accepted a 94-72 loss against the 18th-ranked Bethel University Lady Wildcats in a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) game at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Wildcats (19-7, 12-4 SSAC West) built a 56-33 lead by halftime and held as much as 33-point lead twice in the 2nd half.
Freshman guard Amee Smith led Spring Hill with 17 points and freshman forward Camry Johnson hauled down 10 rebounds. SHC shot 38.3% (28-73) overall from the floor and 28.6% (4-14) from 3-point distance. The Badgers turned the ball over 10 times against two steals by Bethel, but were out-rebounded by the Lady Wildcats 56-43.
Bethel was led by forward Tayla Foster with 22 points, Porsha Harris scored 18 points and Kenyatta Drake added 16 more for the Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats shot 43.4% (36-83) from the field including 24.1% (7-29) from behind the arc. The Lady Wildcats committed 10 turnovers against six steals by Spring Hill.
The Badgers (5-19, 2-14 SSAC West) will next visit The Den in New Orleans, La., to play the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack (16-9, 10-5 SSAC West) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight Series.
