FAIRHOPE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team opened the 2014 spring season with a 9th place finish out of nine teams at the Faulkner State Community College (FSCC) Spring Invitational at Rock Creek Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
The Badgers shot a combined team score of 654 (325, 329, +78) over the par-72, 6920-yard course and finished 60 strokes behind the team champion Faulkner State (299, 295, 594, +18).
Individually, freshman Wesley Hunter out of St. Luke's Episcopal School in Mobile finished in 27th place out of 48 golfers with scores of 80 and 81 (161, +17) while junior Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., carded rounds of 82 and 80 for a +18 score of 162 to finish tied for 30th place.
Senior Philip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., was 38th (79, 86, 165, +21) and freshman Grant Luisi from Dallas, Texas, shot a +22 score of 166 (84, 82, 166) for 40th position. Sophomore Cade Landeche of Luling, La., rounded out the field in 48th place with a total of 174 strokes (88, 86, +30).
Spring Hill will next compete on March 9-11 at the 2014 Loyola Wolf Pack Invitational at Oak Harbour Golf Course in New Orleans, La.
