The Spring Hill College baseball team lost a 5-0 conference collision with the University of Mobile Rams on Friday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field.
The Rams (10-4, 3-1 SSAC) took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings before SHC starter Wesley Parrish (1-2) settled into his groove. Mobile added three runs in the 8th inning when a bases-loaded single to center off SHC reliever Johnathan Billings also scooted by the Badger outfield and cleared the bases.
Spring Hill would leave runners in scoring position in seven out of nine innings and left a total of 15 runners on base against Mobile pitching.
Parrish took the loss in seven innings of work with 10 hits allowed, a walk and six strikeouts while Jeff Price improved to 3-0 on the year for Mobile with three hits, four walks and six strikeouts.
At the plate, right fielder Garrett Webb had two hits for Spring Hill while Mobile's Braxton Hamil had two hits with a double and an RBI. Shortstop Payne Palmer enjoyed a 3-for-3 day with two RBI as catcher Angelo Bruno added two hits to the UM totals.
The Badgers (9-4, 2-2 SSAC) and Rams will wrap up this three-game conference series with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at historic Stan Galle Field.
