SELMA, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team improved to 13-4 on the year with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of the Concordia College-Selma Hornets by the scores of 12-2 and 13-4 at Bloch Park on Tuesday afternoon.

SHC opening game starter Hunter Nowak (3-0) went six solid innings with six hits, allowed two walks and had five strikeouts as right fielder Taylor Eads blasted two home runs to pace the Badger offense.

Darryl Watkins took the loss for the Hornets in a complete-game loss allowing 15 hits with a walk and no strikeouts. Centerfielder Christian Briscoe had two hits for Concordia is the opener.

In the second game, the Badgers pounded out 12 hits and benefited from 16 walks by the Hornet pitching staff. Left fielder Garrett Webb had three hits with a double and a run-driven-in while centerfielder Mykol Sostarich collected two hits with a triple and three RBI.

Senior second baseman Brian Sims tallied his 200th career hit in the 3rd inning of the opening game during a day in which he scored five runs with two hits, two stolen bases, an RBI and turned a double play in the field.

Jesse Hanson (2-0) was the Badger winner on the mound in 5.1 innings with seven hits allowed, two walks and two strikeouts. Darius Ford was the loser for Concordia in 3.1 innings with five hits, six walks and a strikeout.

On the day, Badger hitters rapped out 27 hits with six going for extra bases and stole eight bases.

Spring Hill (13-4, 4-2 SSAC) visits the Blue Mountain College Toppers (1-9, 0-6 SSAC) in Mississippi for a three-game Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) series beginning with a noon doubleheader on Thursday and wrapping up with a single game at noon on Friday.
