MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 2nd-ranked Spring Hill College softball team took both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Huntingdon College on Thursday afternoon by the scores of 3-0 and 5-2.

In the opening contest, Spring Hill's lone senior, second baseman Raleigh Downs crushed a two-run home run in the 6th inning as the Badgers expanded on an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Hawks (4-5) in the late innings. SHC starter Caroline Sagrera (2-1) allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts in the victory while the Badgers racked up nine hits led by shortstop Shea Blanchard's three safeties and Lena Land's 2-for-3 performance.

Spring Hill built a 4-0 after 4½ innings of play before a two-run home run by Morgan Goshorn of the Lady Hawks in the 6th frame closed the gap to the game's final score of 5-2. Blanchard added two more hits including a solo homer in the second game as Sarah Bolotte (2-1) went the distance for SHC, giving up seven hits with six strikeouts.

Spring Hill (4-2) will open its conference schedule with a home doubleheader versus the Bethel University (Tenn.) Wildcats (0-4) at Murray Field on Tuesday beginning at noon.
