The Spring Hill College baseball team lost a 6-1 conference verdict versus the No. 1 ranked Faulkner University Eagles on Friday night at historic Stan Galle Field.

Faulkner (18-4, 6-1 SSAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning off a home run to right-centerfield by catcher Robert Llera, but the Badgers answered back in the bottom of the frame with a two-out single to right by catcher Roy Moulder that brought in second baseman Brian Sims from 3rd base.

Faulkner drew a bases-loaded walk in the 2nd inning to retake a 2-1 lead and then added single runs in the 5th inning via another solo shot to right-center by Llera, the 6th inning with a sacrifice fly to center by Llera, an RBI-single to right by first baseman Elvis Rodriguez in the 7th inning, and a sacrifice fly to center by Rodriguez.

On the mound, Wesley Parrish fell to 1-4 on the year for Spring Hill with six innings of work and allowing seven hits and five walks with six strikeouts. Brady Hitt pitched the final three innings allowing three hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Thomas Dorminy (4-0) went eight innings for Faulkner with five hits, no walks and 14 strikeouts.

Sims had two hits for the Badgers and centerfielder Andy Robbins stretched a single to left-centerfield into a double with a heads-up base running play in the 2nd inning.

Llera collected three hits including his two homeruns with three RBI and left fielder Esteban Paula tallied two singles with two stolen bases for the Eagles.

Spring Hill (15-7, 6-4 SSAC) and the Eagles wrap up this three-game conference series at historic Stan Galle Field with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
