GULF SHORES, Ala. – The 2nd-ranked Spring Hill College softball team shutout the University of Houston-Victoria 3-0 in the Gulf Coast Invitational Gold Bracket's opening game and then cruised past LSU-Alexandria 9-1 in the semi-final round to earn a spot in the championship game.

Against UHV, Badger starter Caroline Sagrera (SO, Baton Rouge, La.) dealt out 11 strikeouts with just two walks and three hits for the victory. Freshman left fielder Jenna Charnock (FR, Mobile, Ala.), centerfielder Taylor Webre (JR, Luling, La.) and junior third baseman Lea Kittrell (JR, Lucedale, Miss.) each had a pair of hits in the game.

In the semi-final game, Sagrera allowed the LSU-A Generals just two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts as the Badgers notched a five-inning "Mercy Rule" decision. Webre slapped three hits around the diamond and junior Lena Land (JR, Milton, Fla.) added two hits to the Spring Hill effort.

Spring Hill (11-3) will meet Central Methodist University (10-3) at 4:14 p.m. on Sunday in the tournament's championship game.
