The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Jordan Travis and Caroline Sagrera as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their excellent efforts during the week of March 17-23, 2014.
Travis, a sophomore sprinter from Poplarville, Miss., ran a time of 1:53.91 in the 800-meter run for a 6th place finish out of 30 total runners and a 3rd place finish in the College Division at the Florida State University Relays at Mike Long Track in Tallahassee.
Sagrera, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, La., pitched a no-hitter versus Faulkner University in the opening game of an SSAC doubleheader on Tuesday allowing just three walks. She then entered the second game in the 3rd inning where the right-hander allowed no hits and no walks with a hit-batter. Against William Woods on Sunday, she pitched 15 shutout innings and gave up just two hits in the first game and only a walk and a single to right field in the nightcap. Sagrera (16-2) struck out 35 batters on the week and leads the NAIA with 185 strikeouts on the year.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
