The 10th-ranked Spring Hill College softball team swept a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) games away from the 6th-ranked William Carey University Lady Crusaders on Friday afternoon by the scores of 1-0 and 1-0 at Murray Field.

As has become a habit this season for head coach Alison Sellers-Cook's Badgers, Spring Hill scored the winning run of the opening game in the bottom of the 7th inning when first baseman Elise deBruler led off with a single and was moved to 3rd base on two sacrifice bunts by centerfielder Taylor Webre and left fielder Jenna Charnock before scoring on a walk-off single to left-center by shortstop Shea Blanchard.

The nightcap was another pitcher's duel with the Badgers coming out on top when right fielder Taylor Lahasky led off the 4th inning with a double to right and was driven in by a single up the middle by second baseman Raleigh Downs. Lahasky just beat the tag at home plate sliding under the diving tag attempt of Carey catcher Janessa Dedeaux.

SHC starter Caroline Sagrera (30-6) once again earned two complete-game victories and allowed three hits in the opener and five hits in the second game. The All-America pitcher struck out eight batters with six walks on the day.

Brittany Lang (18-2) took the loss for the Lady Crusaders (38-8, 19-7 SSAC) in the first game allowing eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts while Brittany LeBlanc (18-6) suffered the second loss giving up just five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Spring Hill (34-9, 19-5 SSAC West) will close out the 2014 home schedule on Saturday with a conference doubleheader versus the 13th-ranked Belhaven University Lady Blazers (37-12, 19-9 SSAC West) beginning at 12 p.m. Before the games, the Badgers will honor their senior players with the annual Senior Day ceremonies.
