The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Garrett Webb and Caroline Sagrera as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances on the diamonds during the week of April 21-27, 2014.
Webb, a sophomore third baseman/outfielder from Gainesville, Fla., had five hits with two RBI, a stolen base and four walks in five games this week. In the field, he had five putouts with three assists and no errors. For the year, Webb hit at a .322 pace with four doubles and 16 RBI. He was 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts while fielding his positions with a .960 percentage (62 putouts, 34 assists and four errors).
Sagrera (32-8), sophomore pitcher from Baton Rouge, La., went 3-1 on the week with two shutouts versus the 6th ranked William Carey Crusaders and the 13th-ranked Belhaven Blazers. She pitched 28 innings with 15 hits allowed, gave up just one earned run with 17 strikeouts and 8 walks. Sagrera currently leads the NAIA with 374 strikeouts in 276 innings pitched while holding a 0.76 ERA and opponents are hitting just .137 against her.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
