The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named second basemen Brian Sims and Raleigh Downs as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances on the infield during the week of April 28-May 4, 2014.
Sims, a senior from Mobile, Ala., closed out his four-year career with 207 starts in 208 games played while hitting .342 with 250 total hits including 15 doubles and five triples. He collected 85 RBI and scored 129 runs while stealing 44 bases in 57 attempts. In the field, Sims turned 128 double plays.
Downs, a senior from Booneville, Miss., had six hits with two doubles and six RBI in seven games this week. In her two-year career, she has started 118 games with a .247 batting average including 11 doubles, one triple and a home run. She has tallied 41 RBI and scored 45 runs while holding a .969 fielding percentage with six double plays.
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
