DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Thursday evening that Spring Hill College men's golfer Rickie Lee was named a 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
Lee, a senior from Bayou LaBatre, Ala., graduated on May 10 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance & Economics. He played in nine events in four seasons with the Badgers and shot his best score in April of this year at the SHC Badger Invitational with a +9 tally of 153 (77, 76). Lee also won the award as a junior in 2013 and is a three-time member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) All-Academic team.
Since the award was introduced in 1979, a total of 173 SHC student-athletes have received Scholar Athlete recognition from the NAIA.
This year the NAIA named a total of 114 men's golfers 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
