GULF SHORES, Ala. – Freshman Corinne Missi of Yaoundé, Cameroon, finished in 7th place out of 30 competitors in the triple jump event at the 2014 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium on Friday evening.
Missi leaped a distance of 11.71 meters on her second attempt after a foul jump in her first trip down the runway. Her third attempt netted an 11.18-meter mark and her final three attempts were all fouls.
The 11.71-meter distance set a new personal mark for Missi as well as a new Spring Hill College record that broke her own mark of 11.59 meters set on May 9, 2014.
Missi, a dual-sport student-athlete who also plays for the SHC women's basketball team, was the first Badger athlete to compete at the NAIA Nationals in the brief two-year history of the program.
