MOBILE, Ala. -- The Spring Hill women's tennis team (3-1, 2-1 GCAC) defeated cross-town rival the University of Mobile Tuesday afternoon, 6-3.
In doubles action, UM pulled ahead with Lindsay McDaniel/Maria Aguirre defeating SHC's Abbey Angelle/Shannon Ward, 8-5. Then, UM's Josy Soares/Pam Boykin defeated SHC's Allison Symulevich/Catherine Thames, 8-5. Spring Hill's third doubles pair (Michelle Brochu/Katelyn Olewinski) defeated UM"s Michelle Machen/Camilla Houden, 9-8 (4).
With UM up 2-1 after doubles, the SHC women stepped up during the singles matches. Thames defeated McDaniel: 6-4, 6-1. Ward defeated Boykin: 6-1, 6-2. Angelle defeated Aguirre: 6-3, 7-5. Amanda Frawley defeated Houden: 6-3, 6-2. Mary Elizabeth McGinn defeated Machen, 6-2, 6-2. UM's Soares defeated Symulevich: 6-2, 6-0.
The Lady Badgers will return to the court on Thursday, March 8 to take on Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette, Ala., at 1 p.m.
