The Spring Hill College men's golf team shaved 18 strokes off their previous day's score to post a 305 combined score in the final round of the BMW Collegiate Invitational on Monday and finished in 8th place out of 10 teams. Overall, the team shot a combined 628 over the two-day event, including an opening round 323. Anderson University (S.C.) finished 22 strokes ahead of the Badgers to win the event.
Sophomore Will Loweth of Houston, Texas, led the Badgers by shooting a combined 152 (+8) for the tournament, including an even par 72 in the final round. Individually, Loweth placed ninth out of the 51 golfers in the event.
Senior Patrick Jenkins of Chandler, Ariz. shot a two-day score of 155 to finish 15th (+11) and freshman Eddie Smith from San Antonio, Texas, came in with a 17-over 161 to tie for 30th position with junior Dan Thouvenot of St. Louis, Mo. David Lysaught, a senior from Denver, Colo., finished in 43rd position with a 166 (+22).
The Spring Hill men next play at the NAIA Region XIII Championships on April 20-22 at the Meadow Links Golf Course in Ft. Gaines, Ga.
