Memphis, Tenn. - The Spring Hill College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Crichton College on Friday evening. SHC held a 1-0 lead at the intermission off an unassisted goal by forward John Tanner of Gulf Shores in the match's 22nd minute.
The home-standing Comets (1-0) answered with a tying goal in the 70th minute and took the lead in the 80th minute off a penalty kick.
Murphy High's William Gafford recorded his first collegiate loss in goal for the Badgers.
Head Coach Adam Pearce commented, "We need to learn to play with more discipline as a team. We had moments and spells where we showed how good a team we can be, but then we had other moments where we showed our youth."
The Badgers (0-1-1) will remain in Memphis this weekend to play Lyon College (Ark.) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
