The Spring Hill College women's soccer team (6-1) continued their tremendous start to the 2008 season with a 2-1 victory over NCAA Division 2 opponent Flagler College (3-4) at the Thomas University Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Junior forward Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Texas, proved to be the game's hero for the second consecutive match with the game-winning goal in the 105th minute of the contest.
Down 1-0 in the 55th minute, the Lady Badgers used a beautifully executed passing play between senior Sarah Engels and Pruett to eventually find senior Moe Sargent who drove home the tying goal off her left foot.
Engels would team with Pruett again in the second overtime for the game winner.
"If this team stays committed to each other, they have a real chance to be something special," Spring Hill Head Coach Adam Pearce said about his team's fast start to season. "I'm extremely proud of the way this team is playing."
The Lady Badgers will open the conference schedule on Tuesday, September 30, at 5 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Miss., versus William Carey University (1-2-1).
