The Spring Hill College women's soccer team picked up its first conference win of the season with a 2-0 road win at Belhaven College on Thursday night.
Freshman forward Abby Galen of St. Louis, Mo., scored the Lady Badgers' opening goal in the 15th minute and then junior forward Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Texas, added her 15th goal of the season in the 51st minute.
SHC freshman goalkeeper Kayla McCrory of Fairhope picked up her fourth shutout of the season while making four saves. Kristin Parson of BC also made four saves in the loss.
"This was a very even match," said Spring Hill Head Coach Adam Pearce. "We had some great individual efforts, especially from Lynsey Winkler (senior, defense, Chesterfield, Mo.). Her grit, experience and determination really served as an anchor on our back line. It's tough to play on turf when you usually don't, but we worked hard and it paid off."
The teams tied with 11 shots apiece and SHC took three corner kicks to Belhaven's (7-4, 0-2) two corners.
The Lady Badgers (8-3, 1-2) will host Trevecca Nazarene University from Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.
