The Spring Hill College men's soccer team (4-6-3) fought to its second tie match in as many games with a 1-1 no-decision with visiting Trevecca Nazarene University on Saturday night at Library Field.
Junior forward Zachariah Townsend from Middleburg, Fla., scored off a headed ball in the game's 10th minute to stake the Badgers to a 1-0 lead. The score came off a beautifully placed crossing pass from freshman midfielder Bryce Privett from Fairhope.
In the 22nd minute, however, Trevecca's Sam Madeley tied the match at 1-1 with a goal off an assist by Mark Foster.
Both teams dug in their heels for the remainder of the match as the defense and goalkeepers took over from there. Sophomore SHC keeper Dan Criscione of Maplewood, Mo., recorded 10 saves versus 19 TNU shots while Hayden Coffman made three saves against eight Spring Hill shots.
Trevecca had seven corner kicks while SHC took only one corner.
The Badgers will next host Concordia-Selma in a non-conference match on Friday at 7 p.m. on Library Field.
