Spring Hill College senior Patrick Aucoin of River Ridge, La., broke the school's record in the 4-mile event on Saturday with a time of 21:04.90 at the Choctaw Open at Choctaws Trails in Clinton, Miss. Aucoin shattered the previous mark of 21:35.5 held by Mark Harvath since October 2001.
The time was also good enough to place Aucoin in fourth place out of 57 runners. Chelimo Moses of Louisiana Monroe finished first with a time of 20:43.25.
Other SHC finishers were freshman Will Kirkikis (22:10.09, 17th), junior Mark Kirkikis (23:53.36, 29th), freshman Brian Otero (24:10.58, 32nd), senior Ben Lauber (24:50.88, 38th), freshman Christian Boyer (26:05.07, 48th), and junior Neilson Lea (33:28.50, 54th).
As a team, the Badgers finished 5th of eight teams scoring 111 points and a total time of 1:56:09.81 as ULM took home the first place honors with 21 points and a time of 1:45:12.11.
The Badgers will run again this Saturday at the University of Mobile Invitational.
