The Spring Hill College men's soccer team closed out the 2008 season with a 5-1 loss to No. 13 ranked William Carey University in the semifinal round of the GCAC Tournament on Thursday.
Senior midfielder Sean Simpson from Ballwin, Mo., staked the Badgers (4-11-3) to a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, but WCU (12-4-1) retaliated with five unanswered goals.
Jarred Wooley of Carey scored in the 26th minute as did Rob Rogers in the 33rd.  In the second half, Joseph McNiell scored for the Crusaders and Tito Salas finished off the match with goals in the 57th and 60th minutes.
Carey's Carl Goody made four saves versus 10 SHC shots while sophomore Dan Criscione made six saves against 22 shots.
