Spring Hill College saw a run-two lead dissolve into a six-run 13-7 loss in the final two innings of Tuesday’s game versus Faulkner University at Stan Galle Field.
The Badgers found themselves down 5-0 after five innings, but answered the Eagles’ challenge with a five-run outburst of their own in the sixth inning capped by center fielder Ryan Hall’s two-out Grand Slam homer to left. Spring Hill College took the lead at 7-5 in the next frame when pinch hitter Craig Lehman punched a two-run single down the left field line.
Faulkner (31-19) bounced back with a two-run blast over the left field fence by right fielder Michael Colley that re-tied the game at seven apiece. Eagle left fielder Jon Cagle then hit the right field foul pole with his second three-run homerun of the game in the ninth to stake the visitors to a 10-7 lead off SHC reliever Mario Garcia (2-3).
Roberto Ferguson took the win in relief for the Eagles.
