Loyola Sweeps Badgers

Game at a glance
Spring Hill College (4-8, 2-6 GCAC) lost a conference doubleheader to the Loyola University Wolfpack (6-7, 6-5 GCAC) by the scores of 7-3 and 5-2 on Saturday.
In the first game, Loyola used a four-run third inning to stretch a 3-1 score into a 7-1 advantage. Wolfpack second baseman Stephen Carroll had the big hit of the frame with a two-run single. Carroll had two hits and three RBI in the game and centerfielder Brian Mason added three hits and two RBI.
SHC answered with single runs in the fourth and seventh innings, but could not manage to mount a significant offensive threat. Badger centerfielder Justin Harrison had two hits and an RBI while catcher Tyler Moberg also had a pair of hits and scored twice.
Starting pitcher Carlos Benach picked up the win for Loyola, giving up six hits and two earned runs along with one walk and one strike out. For the Badgers, Taylor Chadick (1-2) recorded the loss with 4.1 innings pitched, seven earned run, four hits and five walks.
In the second game, Loyola right fielder Mike Kelley slapped a two-run homer in the third inning off Spring Hill starter Michael Bouché (0-2). SHC would mount a two-out rally in the ninth inning, loading the bases with the game-tying runs before catcher Billy Saliski lifted a foul ball out to end the threat and the game.
Carroll would add two more hits and two RBI in the second contest as Taylor Domengeaux received the win, pitching 7.1 innings of work and allowing six hits, two earned runs, four walks and four strike outs.
Designated hitter Craig Lehman and third baseman Brad Holstein each had a hit and a run scored for the Badgers.
