Scots No-Hit Badgers, 10-0

The Lyon College (Ark.) Scots defeated Spring Hill College 10-0 at Stan Galle Field on Monday evening and saw two of their pitchers combine for a no-hitter.  Starter Brian Carr threw six innings and allowed just one base runner, a walk to SHC right fielder Blake Nelson in the third inning, while striking out 11 Badgers.  Justin McGarity came out to start the seventh and final inning for the Scots and finished off the no-no with a fly ball to right, a grounder to short and a strikeout.

Spring Hill was down 2-0 in the third and commented four fielding errors that allowed the Scots (16-7) to score four unearned runs in the frame. 

Right fielder Zac Wallace collected five hits in five at-bats and scored three runs for Lyon while second baseman Justin Brown and shortstop Garry Richards both had two hits and three RBI.

For the Badgers, starter John Poyner (0-1) pitched three innings and allowed seven runs, but only three were earned.  He gave up six hits, a walk, two hit batters and two strikeouts.  Todd Kline pitched four innings with three earned runs, seven hits three walks and a strikeout.

Spring Hill College (10-21, 6-14 GCAC) travels to Shreveport, La., this weekend to play LSU-Shreveport (20-8, 14-5 GCAC) in a three-game series beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and wrapping up on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader.
