Game at a glance

Versus: Dillard University
W 81-73

The Spring Hill College men (15-8, 7-5 GCAC) extended their longest winning streak of the season to four games with an 81-73 victory over the Dillard University Blue Devils on Saturday night.  Extremely accurate first-half shooting led to a 45-33 Badger advantage at the break.  In the first half, Spring Hill College drained 12 of 20 (60%) 3-point attempts and shot 56% (15-27) overall.

Dillard tried to answer in the second half with full-court pressure, but the Badgers had the answers in the first three minutes building a 19-point lead at 54-35.  As the game wore on, however, the constant Blue Devil defensive harassment began to drain the Badgers.  With five minutes remaining in the game the Badgers saw their lead dwindle to just three points at 68-65.

Consecutive field goals by Marcus Coleman and Noah Woolridge would stop the bleeding for the home team.  The Badgers would then hold on at the free throw line over the last two minutes to secure the victory.

Coleman led all scorers with 26 points making eight 3-point baskets.  Joining him with double digits was Woolridge with 19 and Jeremy Price with 14.  Woolridge also hauled in six rebounds.  For the game, the Badgers shot 49% (25-51) from the field and 48% (14-29) from 3-point land.

Dillard (4-15, 0-12) had four players in double figures: Kenyon Harper with 19, Marcus Bridges with 14, Darnell Williams with 13 and Joshua Mitchell with 11 points.  Demarcus Hall pulled in seven rebounds.

Turnovers were even at 17 apiece and Dillard had 34 rebounds to 30 boards for SHC.

The Spring Hill College men now travel to William Carey University on Thursday for a match scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
