Spring Hill College men’s basketball team moved on to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round on Wednesday night with a 76-61 victory over Tougaloo College.
The Badgers trailed by one 34-33 at the halftime intermission, but went on a 25-4 run to open the second half. Tougaloo, playing with only six men dressed for the game due to injuries, could not find an answer for the Badger’s hot shooting during the second period as the Badgers maintained a 20-point advantage over most of the game’s final 10 minutes.
For the game, the Badgers shot 56% (30-53) and continued to be the NAIA’s best 3-point shooting team making 11 of 23 (47%) attempts from long distance.
Junior guard Jeremy Price and senior forward Noah Woolridge each had 18 points for the Badgers while sophomore guard Marcus Coleman added 12 points. Senior forward Cash Covington scored a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while freshman center Nick Brown also put 10 points in the basket as all five starters for the Badgers broke double figures in scoring.
The Badgers pulled in 36 total rebounds on the night.
Keithdrick Harris scored 19 for the Bulldogs.
Spring Hill College (19-11) will now travel to No. 4 LSU-Shreveport on Friday to play the Pilots in the GCAC semifinals beginning at 7 p.m.
