Badgers Humble Tougaloo, 69-55

The Spring Hill College men (14-8, 6-5 GCAC) used a 14-4 run coming out of the halftime locker room to stretch a 26-26 tie into a 10-point 40-30 lead as the Badgers outlasted an undermanned Tougaloo squad 69-55 on Thursday night.  With only seven men appearing on the game roster for the Bulldogs, Spring Hill used a relentless defensive effort to wear down the Bulldogs and build an insurmountable 19-point lead at 59-40 with less than eight minutes remaining.

The Badgers continued to shoot well from behind the 3-point line and made 10 of 30 (33%) attempts from long distance and made 24 of 60 (40%) shots overall.  Jeremy Price scored 20 points for the Badger cause with Noah Woolridge adding 17 and Marcus Coleman putting in 14 points.  Woolridge was 5-11 (45%) from 3-point territory.

Freshman Nick Brown controlled the paint throughout much of the contest and pulled in a game-high nine rebounds.

For Tougaloo (13-9, 7-4), Keithdrick Harris had 20 points, Jermaine Hodges had 16 and Jeremy Cable added 15 points.  Hodges and Harris both had six rebounds.

The Badgers committed 11 turnovers to Tougaloo’s nine, but SHC controlled the glass taking in 44 rebounds to the Bulldogs’ 32 boards.

The Spring Hill College men play at home again on Saturday as the second half of a women’s and men’s doubleheader versus Dillard University.  The women tip off at 5 p.m. and the men are schedule to begin at 7 p.m.
