Game at a glance
Feb 16, 2008 03:00 PM
Versus: Loyola University
L 58-72
The Spring Hill College Lady Badgers (5-19, 4-10 GCAC) held a 39-33 halftime lead over the No. 16 rated Loyola University-New Orleans Wolfpack, but saw that advantage quickly dissolve in the second period as LU won 72-58. Loyola used a 26-7 run that began with 17:05 remaining on the clock that changed a 39-33 SHC bulge into a 59-46 Wolfpack lead at the 10:00 mark.
Junior guard Rashonda Belton led the Lady Badgers with 19 points while forward Keisha Forbes of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., recorded nine rebounds. As a team, Spring Hill shot 36% (24-66) from the field including 35% (7-20) from behind the 3-point line.
Twin sisters Trenell and Trenese Smith of Loyola scored 24 and 25 points respectively. Kiely Schork added 12 points to the Wolfpack cause while center Christine Mainguy grabbed 15 rebounds. For the evening, Wolfpack (21-4, 14-0 GCAC) shooters were 39% (27-70) from the field and 30% (12-40) in 3-point attempts.
Both teams recorded 44 rebounds while Spring Hill committed one more turnover than Loyola, 21 to 20.
The Lady Badgers travel back to New Orleans on Thursday to play No. 24 Xavier-New Orleans in a conference match up beginning at 5:30 p.m. SHC upset XU 71-68 in a previous match up in January.
