Game at a glance
The Spring Hill College Lady Badgers saw a 38-27 halftime lead evaporate in the second period as the University of Mobile (17-12, 13-4 GCAC) pulled away to secure a 73-63 victory in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
With the Lady Badgers (6-21, 5-12) holding as much as a 14-point lead in the first half, the Rams did not allow the hot shooting to intimidate them. Instead, they regrouped at halftime and immediately began whittling away at their deficit.
Mobile took their first lead with 5:45 remaining in the game off two Crystal Hutchinson free throws only to see Rashonda Belton of Spring Hill answer with a 3-point basket on the other end. A Hutchison field goal with 3:06 on the clock gave Mobile a 62-60 lead and they never looked back.
For SHC, four players broke into double-figure scoring with Sharidan Hollis scoring 13, Belton putting in 12, Angél Parker adding 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Keisha Forbes contributing 10. The Lady Badgers shot 36% (22-62) for the game including 8 of 24 shots (33%) from 3-point land. Mobile out rebounded SHC 47-39 and committed 15 turnovers to the Lady Badgers’ 19 fumbles.
Mobile also put four players into double figures as Hutchinson scored a game-high 24 points and center Sherri McIntosh put in 16 points. Danielle Goodly and Angela Bounds each scored 11 points. McIntosh pulled in 15 rebounds.
The Lady Badgers (6-21, 5-12 GCAC) wrap up the regular season at home on Saturday at 5 p.m. versus Southern University-New Orleans.
