The Spring Hill College Lady Badgers (4-15, 3-6 GCAC) dropped a 73-72 decision to the University of Mobile on Tuesday night.  In the first half, Spring Hill avoided the problems presented by Mobile’s obvious height advantage on the inside by shooting well from the outside and clung to a 40-39 lead at the intermission.  In the second half, however, the outside shooting touch faded for the Lady Badgers and Mobile’s inside presence exerted its strength to build a seven-point lead at 58-51 with 10 minutes remaining.

Spring Hill fought back and managed to grab a 68-66 advantage with 3:34 on the clock, but could not hold on for the victory.

Four Lady Badgers scored in double digits in a remarkably balanced scoring attack.  Guard Rashonda Belton led with 18 points, Sharidan Hollis scored 17, forward Keisha Forbes added 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Andrea Hicks contributed 15 points.  As a team, Spring Hill shot 40% from the field (28 of 70) and out rebounded Mobile 39-34.

Mobile had three players post double digits with Danielle Goodly scoring 18 points and center Sherri McIntosh dropping in 15 points and pulling in 13 rebounds.  Crystal Hutchinson added 13 points.  Mobile shot 41% (28 of 69) and recorded 14 steals in the game.

The Lady Badgers host Belhaven College on Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
