Male Athlete of the Week

MOBILE, Ala. -- Senior Randy Giveans named SHC Male Athlete of the Week for October 16-22.

Giveans, a native of New Orleans, La., is a two-sport athlete at Spring Hill, competing in cross-country and golf.  Cross-country is where he excelled this week.  Giveans, the senior co-captain, finished 6th overall at the GCAC Championships on Saturday with 8k time of 29:11.61.  On Oct. 14, he finished the same trail in 29:24 and placed 17th at the Watson Quality Ford Invitational.  In the past, he also participated in men's basketball at SHC.

"Randy has always been a competitor, but he came in particularly strong and well-prepared this season," said coach Chris Hughes.  "Randy shows his leadership in and out of competition, and he is looked up to by his teammates. I am proud Randy was chosen for this honor, he deserves it.  I will be sad to see him leave the team as he graduates this year."

Giveans is the son of Chris and Kim Giveans.  He is majoring in finance and economics.
