Ray Fron begins his second season on The Hill following an extremely successful 12-year tenure as the assistant women's basketball coach at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he helped guide the Saints to a 219-150 record.
During Fron's time with Aquinas, the Saints won the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) title in 2007, made three NAIA Division 2 National Tournament appearances, reached the NAIA Sweet-16 in 2006, and have had seven players named as NAIA All-Americans.

He was the Girls Head Coach at Riverbank High School in Riverbank, Ca., from 1987 to 1990. His teams were known in California for their aggressive style of play and strong work ethic.
Fron is a dedicated teacher away from the court, as well. He served as a Special Education Teacher and Department Head at Pinewood Middle School in Kentwood, Mich., from 1999 to 2008. He received his B.S. in Psychology and Special Education from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., in 1999 and he will complete his Masters in the Art of Teaching at Aquinas College this fall.
Fron was an active prep athlete at Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids where he lettered in cross-country and track while also playing basketball and baseball. He attended Grand Rapids Community College before progressing to GVSU.
A native of Grand Rapids, Fron and his wife Kari are the parents of three children, Lauren, Rob and Tarah. Lauren and Rob have followed their parents' footsteps into the teaching profession while Tarah is a graduate student.
