Head Coach
4th Season
Christian DeVries begins his fourth season as the head coach of the SHC women's soccer team after a highly successful 12-year career at the University of Minnesota-Morris (UMM).

In his four seasons at the reins of the Badger program, DeVries has coached 28 SSAC All-Academic Team members, 10 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, four CoSIDA Academic All-District Team members, two CoSIDA Academic All-America 1st team members and two SSAC All-Freshmen team members member in Molly Cowley and Courtney Harlan.

Over his last four seasons with the NCAA Division III Cougars, DeVries' men's team compiled an overall record of 52-23-7 and an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) record of 35-15-6 along with two conference tournament titles in 2007 and ‘08 and the ‘09 regular season crown. In 2008, he was a selected the UMAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Prior to taking over the men's program, DeVries coached the Cougar women's program for eight years. During the first five years he turned an NCAA Division II program that went 4-11 in the 1998 season into a conference contender that finished third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in 2002. In 2003 UMM joined the UMAC while transitioning to NCAA Division III and DeVries' teams promptly captured one regular season and two conference tournament titles between 2003 and 2005.

DeVries' teams have been notable for their success in the classroom as well. Over his time with women's team, the Cougars earned NSCAA Team Academic Awards for holding a team grade point average over 3.0 in eight of his nine years at the helm. His 2010 Badger team was also an NAIA Scholar Team.

Before joining the UMM staff, DeVries served as the head women's soccer coach at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., during the 1994 and 1995 seasons. His tenure at MVC included an All-American selection, four Academic All-Americans and earning a No. 17 rating in the NAIA national poll.

In total, DeVries has compiled an overall men's and women's record of 172-164-19 (.511) and a postseason record of 14-8-1 (.630). He has coached 64 All-Conference selections, 96 conference Scholar Athletes and 30 regional and national Scholar Athletes and two All American/All Region Athletes.

DeVries began his coaching career in 1991 when he assisted in starting and coaching the women's club soccer team at his alma mater Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. A year later, he became the new team's head coach.

At Adams State, DeVries earned dual bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Industrial Technology in 1991 and a master's in Guidance & Counseling in 1993.

DeVries has completed his NSCAA Advanced National Badge, USSF "A" License and, most recently, his Brazilian "C" License.

DeVries and his wife, Debra, have three children, Mikaela, Brynn, and Macen.
