Steers Stampede Badgers in OT
Game at a glance
Oct 08, 2007 03:00 PM
Versus: Texas College
L 2-3 (OT)
On Monday, the Spring Hill College men’s soccer team fell in overtime to the Texas College Steers by a score of 3-2.
Texas College led 1-0 at the intermission and scored again early in the second period, but freshman Cody Walker of Tampa, Fla., scored a goal at the 50 minute mark to cut the deficit in half.
Sophomore Zechariah Townsend from Middleburg, Fla., later tied the score at two with a header shot that found the back of the net off a corner kick. “It was a great goal that was just smashed by Townsend,” said Head Coach Adam Pearce, “It was an incredibly committed goal off a tremendous collision.”
In overtime, the Steers were able to punch in the rebound of a blocked shot by freshman goalkeeper Dan Criscione of St. Louis to seal the victory. “I challenged them at half time to take over the match and for the last 40 minutes of the game, they did just that,” said Pearce, “but I’m still looking for that committed, concentrated effort for an entire match from our players.”
The Spring Hill men (3-8-2) play at UT-Tyler on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
