Versus: Belhaven College
L 0-1

The Spring Hill College men’s soccer team lost 1-0 at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday night when the Blazers scored the winning goal in the 87th minute of the match.

Playing a man down for the last 35 minutes of the match as the result of a red card to freshman defenseman Collin Gasparovic of St. Louis, Mo., the Badgers maintained fantastic defensive pressure until the final moments of the contest.  Sophomore defenseman and team co-captain Mike Reiter of St. Charles, Mo., kept his team organized and focused while freshman goalkeeper Cory Bronenkamp of St. Louis made numerous saves.

“We had several opportunities to score,” said Spring Hill Head Coach Adam Pearce, “but they got the one that counts.  Still, we played well for our first conference match and we’re still a very young team and our players were up for the job.”

Spring Hill (2-5-2, 0-1-0) next plays Crichton College from Memphis on Sunday afternoon in Jackson at 4 p.m.
