Lady Badgers Defeat Mobile
Game at a glance
Sep 19, 2007 07:00 PM
Versus: University of Mobile
W 5-2
The visiting Spring Hill College Lady Badgers soccer team took a 5-2 win away from the University of Mobile (1-8, 0-1) on Wednesday night.
A goal headed in by junior Lynsey Winkler of Chesterfield, Mo., tied the game at one and gave Spring Hill the momentum just before halftime.
Spring Hill took the lead in the second half off a goal by senior Megan Wientage of St. Louis, Mo., assisted by junior midfielder Sarah Engels, who collected her second assist of the night. Sophomore Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Tex., then dropped an arching shot over the head of freshman Mobile goalie Susanne Klungveit of Norway to push the Lady Badgers ahead by two.
Mobile answered quickly with a second goal, but the Lady Badgers continued to press the Rams on defense, resulting in two unassisted Spring Hill goals. The first came off the foot of senior co-captain Jennifer Huber of St. Louis, Mo., and the second came as the result of a short-handed breakaway goal by Pruett in the last three minutes of play.
Returning home, the Spring Hill women (4-3, 1-0) play the University of Montevallo on Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by a men’s match between the schools at 4:30 p.m.
