Pruett Goal Lifts Lady Badgers to OT Win

After 94 minutes of playing time, sophomore forward Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Tex., found herself in the right place at the right time to score the only goal in Spring Hill’s 1-0 win over Brewton-Parker College.
Pruett was standing just outside the goalie box as Spring Hill and Brewton-Parker players were desperately trying to gain control of the ball as it ricocheted off the feet, heads and bodies of several competitors. As the ball dribbled away from the pack, Pruett calmly approached the goal and lobbed the ball over the head of everyone from 15 yards out to end the game in the first overtime. It was her third game-winning goal of the year.
Spring Hill controlled the ball for most of the match but could not find the back of the net, taking 21 shots including 11 shots-on-goal. The Lady Barons’ goalkeeper, Mallory Lashley, made 10 saves while Spring Hill’s goalkeeper senior Shannon Netherby of Moramar, N.J., faced only two shots for the game and saved the one shot-on-goal she faced.
The Spring Hill women (5-4, 1-0) next play a conference match at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss. on Saturday at 5 p.m.
