Versus: Belhaven College
W 2-0

The Spring Hill College women’s soccer team took a 2-0 victory over the Belhaven Lady Blazers in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday night to move to 2-0 in conference matches.

Sophomore Kasey Pruett of Flower Mound, Tex., scored the first goal for the Lady Badgers with a shot to the back post of the goal off a headed pass from junior midfielder Sarah Engels of St. Louis, Mo., who had received the ball from senior team co-captain Jennifer Huber.  The second goal came as the result of a perfectly timed diagonal pass from junior Maureen Sargent to Engels who delivered the ball to sophomore forward Kristin Lushington of Tallassee for a header into the goal.

“For a soccer purist, this was a great game to watch,” said Spring Hill Head Coach Adam Pearce, “We played beautiful football for 90 minutes tonight.”

Spring Hill (6-4, 2-0) next plays Crichton College from Memphis on Sunday afternoon in Jackson at 2 p.m.
