William Carey University (11-0, 3-0) scored the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute to take a 1-0 victory over the Spring Hill College Lady Badgers. Lady Crusader forward Ami Beresford scored the goal off an assist from the left side by Chelsy Phillips.
Spring Hill’s goalkeeper senior Shannon Netherby of Marmora, N.J., faced 10 shots on goal and made seven saves while William Carey’s goalkeeper Valerie Split-Log made one save against just two shots-on-goal. Carey took four corner kicks to the Lady Badgers’ one.
The Spring Hill women (7-5, 2-1) next play at home on Friday evening at 5 p.m. versus the University of Mobile. In a match at Mobile earlier this season, Spring Hill defeated the Lady Rams 5-2.
