Spring Hill Loses Twice in Tennessee
Game at a glance
Sep 15, 2007 11:00 AM
Versus: Berry College
L 0-3
The Spring Hill College volleyball team lost twice on Saturday at the Lee University Invitational Tournament in Cleveland, Tenn. In the morning match, Berry College (Ga.) dispatched the Lady Badgers in straight games 3-0 by the scores of 30-26, 30-23 and 30-19.
In the afternoon session, the tournament host Lee University proved to be too tough for Spring Hill as the Lady Badgers lost all three games by the scores 30-24, 27-30 and 28-30. Head Coach Beth Ring, however, was not disappointed in her players following the matches saying, “We came away with a lot to build on from the last match. We played extremely well and we had a lot better net play up front than we have had for the last two games.”
Against Lee, Spring Hill (3-5) committed 11 service errors leading Ring to comment, “We lost by 11 total points, so those mistakes really cost us. It’s hard to beat an average team with that many errors, let alone a team as good as Lee.”
Spring Hill has now lost five consecutive matches after starting the year 2-0. The Lady Badgers next travel to Pensacola, Fla., to take on the University of West Florida on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
